Release Week (in review)

It seemed like this week would never come back in September when we finished recording the album.  The label had given us the opportunity to release it back in December, but we wanted to start off the new year/decade fresh.

Monday night it showed up on iTunes, a few hours early, but I guess it was Tuesday in some time zones.  That night, we also received the store lists all over the country that would carry ‘These Mountains are Safe.’  That was pretty exciting for us.

On Tuesday (release day), we heard stories of people finding and not finding the album in stores and many more that had downloaded it on iTunes.

Thursday, after having some minor setbacks with transportation, we headed down to Austin.  On the way out of town, we discovered a little article in a local newspaper on our release.  Nice! We got to Austin a little early to pass out some flyers.  It was pretty unsuccessful.  Everything at Mohawk went smooth.  The venue and staff were great.  We saw many friends and made more, and we were pleased with the set and turnout.   After eventually loading out, we began the trek back to Dallas around 2am.  We eventually made it back home around 530a.

So, I guess it’s Friday now.  Unfortunately, upon our return, I (Michael) became ill and spent the morning with a trash can next to the bed.  It was a slumbering day for all of us.  We met up at Double Wide in Dallas for load-in and we were pretty groggy.  The night progressed and we began to hear that the venue was going to begin turning away people.  They were at capacity.  We had a great turnout.  It was a blast to play our home release show to such a crowd.  We have awesome fans and friends.

That’s about it. Thanks to everyone who made it out to a release show or who has purchased our album.  (This is certainly longer than I expected it to be. Congrats if you made it through. )
